1968 Founded by Howard M. Allenbaugh. M.A.G. Engineering and Manufacturing Company, Inc., enters security hardware industry by designing and manufacturing magnetic high security locks.

1971 M.A.G. creates and patents a novel solution to a costly problem: when more modern key-in-knob locks replaced older-style mortise locks, the existing doors also would need to be replaced. To save the old doors, M.A.G. develops a U-shaped metal channel—the Door Reinforcer—to encase the door, lock and latch into one solid unit. Not only did the Door Reinforcer save existing doors, the device significantly improved the strength of the doors and their locks. The Door Reinforcer soon proved popular for office buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels, apartments and government installations.

 

1980 M.A.G. expands its reach to leading home center and hardware outlets. The easy-to-install Door Reinforcer became natural for do-it-yourselfers.

1985 M.A.G. designs and successfully launches the patented Adjust-A-Strike‚ series. These strikes provide a unique yet secure adjustment feature to accommodate a wide range of door frames and doors. The M.A.G. strike product-line begins its expansion into both the commercial and residential markets.

1991 M.A.G. introduces a line of innovative latch guards, including patented interlocking latch guards that prevent spreading of the frame from the door. This was soon followed by the introduction of patented heavy-duty latch guards and also patented removable latch guards. Today M.A.G.’s latch guards are available in a range of sizes and finishes to fill the needs of the commercial and residential markets.

1997 M.A.G. introduces its innovative MAG MarineTM line of boating products. The Dinghy DocTM is a patented portable docking system designed to make boarding and tie-ups easier and safer. The Universal Mounting Bracket makes it far more efficient and versatile to mount rod holders, portable barbecues and the Dinghy Doc™.

2003 M.A.G. introduces Kleer DrainTM, the first effective instant drain opener utilizing patented air-burst technology. With products tailored for both the do-it-yourself consumer and the professional, M.A.G. provides a cost-effective solution to the age-old problem of clogged drains.

Today M.A.G. provides a complete line of door and window security hardware, custom architectural hardware, as well as a full retail line of Child Safety products. Emphasizing the safety aspect of its products, M.A.G. packages the majority of its products under the name MAG Security™.
